Pieces 2.8/5》
LOKKI 1st
SOLO Exhibition,
2023
G/F, 52-60
Lyndhurst Terrace, Central, Hong Kong
The exhibition is about the journey of self-recovery. Perplexed by the expectations, labels and judges around him, he realized he was gradually losing his way and being smashed into pieces.
With the influence and encouragement from the Hong Kong pop songs, he decided to revive himself. He created a thick sense of security by constructing an absolute dark and silent space and eliminating all the extraneous things. Let the space remain the disordered pieces of the soul, so he can rawly and crudely shape the way he would like to be.
Assemble the broken pieces, repair the wound and become a better self. With his routine of scoring everything in 5-point, his present state of mind is at a little more than half - "2.8" – The self is not yet clear and he is timid sometimes, but with his passion, he is transcending.

Through his paintings, LOKKI constructs significant scenes from his childhood memories, revisiting the spaces and emotions of those moments. He explores how memories shape our personalities and invites the audience to reconcile with various traumas and obsessions in the purest and most personal way. This journey encourages everyone to embrace each profound memory, experience the beauty of fleeting moments, and learn to appreciate the romance of the present.

The exhibition continues his signature expressionist style, utilizing portable charcoal, pencils, oil pastels, hundreds of sheets of paper, and even café napkins as materials. Bold lines and depictions of inner imagery create a painting style that conveys a tension of closeness and distance, alongside raw, surging emotions.
“Personal fetishes might reflect a complex emotional state. If this pleasure stems from our incompleteness, could we instead explore a more complete form of love within ourselves?” With this question, LOKKI presents FETISH, hoping to review self- incompleteness and discover a grounded way of living—an inward journey toward self-acceptance.
